Influence of insertion technique of calcium hydroxide paste in its penetration into simulated lateral channels: in vitro study

Abstract

The objective of the present study will be to analyze different techniques of insertion of calcium hydroxide paste on filling of simulated lateral canals of acrylic teeth, by means of volumetric measuring in computer microtomography. The techniques of insertion tested will be: #30 manual K-file, Lentullo Spiral, Ultrasonic Agitation (Irrissonic), Sonic Agitation (Endoactivator), Capillari TIP + Syringe, mechanical agitation with Easy Clean. Seventy two acrylic teeth, with simulated lateral canals in the cervical, media and apical portions, will be filled with the calcium hydroxide paste according to the following groups (n12): Group 1 - #30 manual K-file; Group 2 - Lentullo Spiral; Group 3 - Ultrasonic Agitation (Irrissonic); Group 4 - Sonic Agitation; Group 5 - Capillari TIP + Syringe; Group 6 - mechanical agiitation with Easy Clean. For the groups that will receive the agitation, the paste will be taken into the canal with the aid of Capilari Tip and syringe. The Easy clean will be used in the micromotor in continuous rotation and to the Ultrasound group will be used the Vairos 350 of the NSK with a irrissonic tip on 20 to power. The Sonic agitation will be employed the Endoactivator. Before and after filling, the teeth will be scanned into computerized SkyScan 1174 microtomograf. The images before and after filling with the help of the CTvol program, will be measured the volume of the lateral canal simulated and volume of the paste inside the lateral canal simulated. The data will be submitted to the statistical comparisons.
