Abstract

The project is meant to develop methodologies for chirality transfer during the synthesis of gold and silver nanoparticles induced by chiral ligands. The idea is to understand the conditions in which there are the transfer of molecular chirality to plasmonic chirality in synthetic procedures and why. Intrinsic of the particles nature or induced by the chiral environment, circular dichroism measurements of different systems, have presented optical activity in the surface plasmon resonance region. Using strategies to exchange ligands on the surface through the concepts of liability and inertia, or developing new synthetic procedures in the presence of chiral ligands with different reducing agents, the intention is to unravel this property not explored, plasmonic chirality, to obtain stable chiral nanoparticles which can then be used for further studies of molecular recognition, enantiomeric separation, and stereospecific catalysis, for example.
