Abstract

This study focus in a comparative analysis of business investment in eco-innovation between companies based in developed and emerging countries. This is a research on the theme of limit and extending the results of a previous project coordinated by the proposer professor at FAPESP that only evaluated the results of Brazilian companies. In this direction, this advanced research in geographic scope, given that the international evidence in developed countries point to a positive relationship between eco-innovation and business performance, while in emerging countries the results are still controversial. In addition, it is expected to use other methodological approaches, confirmatory factor analysis how advances that previous results. Therefore, this study will cover a sample of 323 companies, 95 in emerging countries and 228 companies in developed countries. This sample computing companies with sustainability reports published in the latest version of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI 4.0) for the years 2013 and 2014 and comprise 11 different economic sectors. The data collection will take place through disclosure of the information indicated in sustainability and financial reports. Data analysis will be employed methods Confirmatory Factor Analysis and Multiple Regression Analysis. The central hypothesis that will guide this study is that companies based in developed countries have an eco-innovate structure more consistent that emerging. (AU)
