Abstract

Automotive industries are undergoing a transformation of their manufacturing systems. Called by the German government as Industrie 4.0, this transformation is based on the evolution of traditional Embedded Systems-ES to Cyber-Physical Systems-CPS.Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) use information technology (computers, software and networks) for communication and direct control of systems and physical processes (or vice versa). CPS also has digital systems, such as: Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition - SCADA, Machine to Machine - M2M, Artificial Intelligence, industrial control, and in general, all embedded systems that use automatic control techniques. Evolution from ES to CPS in the automotive manufacturing requires a transitory stage, where ES and CPS should coexist for a determined period of time (ES-CPS). Adequacies between ES and CPS are required for this coexistence. Based on this projection, this project has as goal to develop a virtual prototyping (VP) of an automotive manufacturing cyber-physical system (CPS) based on a specific machine learning (ML) technique. Based on the simulation results of these VP, the aim is to achieve a better understanding of a manufacturing CPS in this transitory stage. (AU)
