Abstract

The project will be performed in glasshouse at Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture with the purpose of evaluate the influence of reducing water potential on carbon assimilation on rice ( Orya sativa). Plantas of rice variety IRGA 424 will be grown in pots and the treatments 0; -30; -60; -90; -120; -150 kPa will be applied from 15 days to 70 after emergence (DAE). The plants will be cultivated in two different seasons (from September to November and January to march) in order to submit them to distinct potential evapotranspiration. The water potential will be reduced by adding polyethylene glycol (PEG 6000) to the nutrient solution. From the results it is expected defining the water level which becomes occur effect in rice yield. And so on allow further studies that aims decrease water demand in rice crop. (AU)
