Abstract

The aim of this research is to verify the correlation between the audibility of speech sounds obtained by SII with amplification with the SDT and their correlations with the time of hearing deprivation and time of acoustic stimulation through the use of hearing aids in elderly users of hearing aids. The study will be conducted at the Integrated Center for Assistance, Research and Teaching in Hearing (NIAPEA), University of São Paulo Medical School Hospital (EPM) - Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP). This is a retrospective study. Will be held the survey of nursing records, users of hearing aids, assisted at NIAPEA in follow-up visits in the years 2015 and 2016 will be collected the data for the calculated SII, from the patient's audiogram, ie without amplification, with amplification and the SDT obtained in the first and last assessment. These data constitute the sample of this research and will be analyzed according to the time of sensory deprivation self reported by the patient and the time of acoustic stimulation through the use of hearing aids.
