The women in politics' midiatic speech: the case of Maria do Rosário and Jair Bolsonaro in Brazilian's press

Abstract

For a long time, the Brazilian woman is subjectivized through, basically, two discursive fields: the mediatic and the political. It is noticeable, however, a statute change when a displacement of private space to the public occurs, with the women's inscription in the political field, in legislative positions and, especially, executives, enabling also new forms of subjectivity, which retake memories of their role in society, creating confrontations and resistance. This work proposes the analysis of mediatic speech that focuses it's say on the role of women in contemporary society and especially, in politics. For this, we will take as reference the case that involved a discussion, in plenary, in December 2014 between the deputies Jair Bolsonaro (PP-RJ) and Maria do Rosario Nunes (PT-RS), then minister of human rights, when Bolsonaro said that "would not rape her, because she didn't deserve it." Our corpus is composed of texts, which recall the event made discursive, of different genres (news, editorials, opinion articles, reports, etc.) published between 8 and 21 December 2014 (two weeks), by four large circulation vehicles in Brazil: Folha de São. Paulo, O Estado, Carta Capital and Brasil de Fato. Anchored in the French speech analysis line, from Michel Pêcheux work's and his group and, in dialogue with the arch-family perspective of Michel Foucault, we will seek to understand, therefore, the discursive construction and the subjectivation process of the contemporary political Brazilian women, aiming the following specific objectives: a) check how the many texts are constructed syntactically: what is the frequency of verbs and adjectives' use that allows the emergence of certain senses and, therefore, forbidden others; b) observe which memories (discursives) are present in the contemporary Brazilian woman's speech in the media, which statements are recovered and triggered; c) from the prohibition category (Foucault, [1971] 2004), point authorized subjects to defend positions, which may be multiple, and how the other's voice is; d) describe the discursive behaviour of the texts in wide circulation in these mediatic vehicles, on the premise that they act as comments, in the sense given to the concept, by Foucault ([1971] 2004).
