Abstract

The demand for healthier foods created the necessity of performing researches whichprovide citrus production with quality and that meet the environmental preservation.Proper management of soil cover for canopy and rootstocks of citrus adapted to highdensity planting, will contribute, mainly, with the increase of the yield for area unity,thus, with the remaining of small citrus growers. The goal of the present report will beevaluating the no-tillage system for high density planting for orchard of Tahiti acid limegrafted on trifoliate Flying Dragon. The experiment will be conducted in theexperimental area of the Rural Development Department from São Carlos FederalUniversity (UFSCar), campus Araras - São Paulo State, Brazil. After the planting thecitrus seedlings, the management of inter-row vegetation follows the followingtreatments: no-tillage (Urochloa ruziziensis, mulching + herbicide on the row), tillage(U. ruziziensis, mulching on the row - no herbicide), minimum tillage (U. ruziziensis,without mulching + herbicide on the row) and conventional tillage (natural vegetation,without mulching + herbicide on the row). They will evaluate the dry mass of the interrowcover crop and the mulching in the projection of citrus canopy; weed density andpercentage of mulch, soil moisture and compaction in the row, soil and foliar (Tahiti)chemical analysis, leaf water potential and the root system (rootstock), vegetative andproductive development of Tahiti acid lime.
