Abstract

This is a BEPE proposal for a period of 8 months at New York University under the advisory of prof. Barbara Weinstein. The research to be carried out during the internship is linked to my broader Ph.D. investigation about the making of whiteness in postwar south Brazil. More specifically, I will address problems related to whiteness, regionalism and racial democracy based fundamentally on data I have already collected. Some of my objectives are discussing data and interpretations, discovering new sources and bibliography, writing a research text that may become one or two chapters of the thesis, presenting it at seminars and congresses, taking a graduate course at NYU and, if possible, a one-week course at The New School. I expect to make great theoretical and interpretative advancements during the stay at NYU.
