Abstract

The research to be developed at the University of Paris-Sorbonne IV, under the supervision of Professor Emeritus Paul Claval, intends to analyze and discuss the uses and meanings of concepts that aim to express the socio-spatial transformations that the city has been going through, trying to perceive the approach conceptualization and the methodological perspective for the understanding of contemporary reality. This increasingly urbanized reality becomes metropolitan. Increasingly spatially complex and conceptually obscure in explanatory terms, since the same concepts no longer account for representing the various processes. More and more often, it has become necessary to attempt an explanation of the real simultaneously to a revision of the theoretical framework that we inherited on the themes urban and urban, urbanization and industrialization, production and reproduction of capital, metropolis And metropolization.Our main objective will revolve around the necessary discussion about the concepts that reveal the nature and meanders of the dynamics of socio-spatial transformations, of a metropolitan nature, in the current phase of capital accumulation. Such a theoretical deepening will contribute to a broader view of the metropolitan complexities contained in the object of the doctoral thesis.
