Abstract

Low capture success rate can be a limiting factor to the success of several wildlife studies. Thus, the improvement of capture techniques, in special for predators, is necessary. In this context, the aim of this study is to evaluate the attractiveness of four different types of baits on medium and large predators. For large predators we will use pen type traps, baited with chicken, pork, goats or sheep in a Latin square design. For the mid-sized predators we will use two different cage sizes with four different types of lures, in a factorial design. The monitoring of the animals approach will be made by Bushnell Trophy Cam® cameras programmed to work 24 hours / day and shoot for 15 seconds with a minute break between videos for periods of 30 days each treatment. The results will be analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) and analysis of Medium (ANOM). (AU)
