Abstract

Introduction: Many researches have contributed to understand psychosocial aspects of adolescent motherhood, but only few studies take the young mother's partner as a study object. This partner, when he assumes the fatherhood, composes the experience of the pregnant adolescent about the pregnancy and the baby, and makes himself a subject of health actions, especially as an adolescent. This research project is justified by the relevance of adolescent fatherhood theme to expand the comprehension about the complex phenomenon of adolescent pregnancy. Objective: discuss psychological meanings related to pregnancy and fatherhood reported by teen partners of pregnant adolescents. Participants and Methods: male partners of pregnant adolescents, aged until 18 years old incomplete, accompanying the pregnant women in specialized medical service for prenatal and postpartum review of adolescents. The Clinical-Qualitative Method will be applied, using semi-structured in-depth interview with open questions technique and researcher observations registered in a field journal. Before data collection, acculturation and ambience phase will be realized, aiming to promote the researcher insertion on the clinical setting where the study will take place. The sample will be selected intentionally, using the theoretical saturation of information to its building. Data processing will be done by Qualitative Analysis of Content and discussed under the usual concepts of Health Psychology. It is expected that the results contribute to the comprehension of the demands that arise for the health professional during prenatal consultation of teenagers, expanding the understanding about the symbolic experience, facilitating communication between both parties and potentially increasing adherence to healthcare.
