Abstract

The seed rain and the subsequent seedling establishment are important processes that determine the composition, spatial distribution and vegetation structure. As such, they are important processes to be monitored in the assessment of the success of forest management activities. This project aims to assess the influence of lianas management and enrichment planting on the seed rain and seedling establishment. Seed traps and plots will be established for monitoring seeds and seedlings in three forest fragments with lianas management and enrichment planting. The abundance, species richness and composition of the seed rain and seedling will be compared between these plots and control plots. The seedling survival will also be considered in the analyses.
