Abstract

Fibromyalgia is a rheumatic syndrome characterized by muscular pain, exacerbation of pain and sensitivity to pain from stimuli that would not normally cause pain. The aim of this study is to verify the association between high levels of pain and disability and the presence of some psychological factors in patients with fibromyalgia. For this, the following outcomes will be assessed in 98 patients with fibromyalgia: pain by Pain Numerical Rating Scale, disability by Patient Specific Functional Scale, depression by Beck Depression Scale, anxiety by State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, kinesiophobia by Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia, pain catastrophizing by Pain Catastrophizing Scale and beliefs and attitudes to pain by Survey of Pain Attitudes. Statistical analysis will be performed using regression models. The importance of this study is a thorough investigation of the association of pain and disability with psychological outcomes, which can be taken into account at the time of treatment, if positive.
