Abstract

Among the consequences of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) for child development are to behavioral alterations, learning disabilities, impairments in attention and in linguistic skills of expression, but the latter is not clear in the literature. There are not researches in literaturethe about the extension of expressive and receptive Oral Language correlating with OSA. AIM: To analyze the skills of Oral Language in children with OSA. METHODS: Will be selected 100 children, aged 4-11 years, of both genders, divided in Group A with children without OSA and Group B for children with OSA. Will be asked to fill the Informed Consent and Informed by the parents/guardians and the Consent Term of the children will be asked. The following evaluations will be applied in children: otolaryngologist, oral language (four levels: pragmatic, syntactic, semantic and phonological) and a screening of myofunctional orofacial aspects. The Otolaryngologist hold Otoscopy oroscopy, rhinoscopy, degree of Mallampati, high-arched palate and pattern of dental occlusion. There will cardiorespiratory monitoring, using the Stardust II model Respironics (polygraphy). For the evaluation of expressive language Oral, use the Test ABFW, the Syntactic Awareness Test and analysis of the narrative. As the assessment of receptive oral language, use the vocabulary Peabody and Token Test. The orofacial myofunctional aspects will be analyzed by MBGR Protocol adapted. (AU)
