Abstract

The scientific motivation behind the three projects described in this proposal is twofold. On the one hand, this proposal aims at providing essential tools for the development of the S-PLUS pipeline, including a novel approach to photometrically calibrate the scientific images plus a photometric package capable to provide accurate multi-band photometry for both galactic and extragalactic objects. On the other hand, this proposal raises the opportunity of joining the scientific data products provided by the S-PLUS survey with those from other incoming projects such as the Gaia-mission. The natural synergy between both projects would complement the versatility of the S-PLUS data, making possible the investigation of new scientific niches that both surveys, separately, could not accomplish.The planned scientific return from these projects would include: 1. the development of new suitable software to generate reduced and calibrated scientific data, 2. the acquisition of complementary databases (+Gaia) and 3. the scientific exploitation of the S-PLUS data.
