Abstract

In the region of Vale do Ribeira, in the states of São Paulo and Paraná, crop out metamorphic rocks with different conditions of temperature and pressure. Rocks of lower green schist facies, amphibolite facies and even rocks with evidences of partial melting can be found, and these are related to Turvo-Cajati Formation. The prior characterization of the metamorphism in these rocks points to similar conditions to barrovian type (Faleiros, 2008), however under higher pressure than that classic region studied by Barrow (1912). The present study aims to establish the pattern of the metamorphic zonation of Turvo-Cajati Formation, diagnostic paragenesis and the P-T conditions of the metamorphic peek of each zone. It also aims to establish the relation between de growth of metamorphic minerals and rock structure. (AU)
