Abstract

Potassium (K) plays an important role in plant metabolism, as associated with the growth and development, yield and quality. In addition, the K is not associated with any organic structure, allowing it to be applied to the preceding crop in no-tillage system. The objective of this study is to evaluate the timing of release of K by the straw of Urochloa ruziziensis and its absorption by cotton cultivars under different managements of potassium fertilization The experimental design will be in a factorial 6x2 with five repetitions The treatments are: 1 - No K and braquiária; 2 - No K and without braquiária; 3-140 kg ha-1 K2O applied in braquiária; 4-140 kg ha-1 of K2O applied to cover the cotton without braquiária; 5-140 kg ha-1 of K2O applied to cover the cotton with braquiária; 6-140 kg ha-1 K2O applied 50% Brachiaria and 50% at 30 DAE cotton. The second factor will be the cotton cultivars cultivate early 954GLT FM and one FM 983GLT late. It will be assessed by the release of K straw fodder; K content in the soil at 0-10; 10-20; 20-40, 40-60 and 60-80 cm; stomatal conductance cotton sheets in stages B1, F1, F7 and C2; the leaf area index; end stand; plant height; average weight of bolls; number of bolls; Cotton yield in seed; fiber yield, cotton lint yield and fiber quality. A complementary study will be conducted in a greenhouse in rhizotrons, to evaluate the root growth of both cultivars. The variables are: the total root length (cm) of the root surface (cm2) Average root diameter (mm), the volume root (cm3) and the length, surface and volume in each diameter class ( 0 to 0.50; 0.51-1,0; 1.01 to 1.50 and> 1,51mm). The ratio root / shoot, mass basis of dry matter, shall be calculated by taking the values of dry matter of root and shoot. The data will be submitted to analysis of variance and means were compared by Tukey test (p <0.05), and the graphics plotted on Sigma Plot® software. (AU)
