Abstract

This research project aims to analyze the individualization process in contemporary period in articulation with the urban phenomenon. Starting with a review of Simmel's work on both individuality and urban life, in order to understand the theoretical bases of the classical Chicago School, this study will examine the subsequent branches established by social psychology (Mead) and urban sociology (Park), considering how they might again be joined. Therefore, through an interdisciplinary approach, it hopes to clarify the interaction and interdependence between the individual and the urban, helping us to recognize movements of antagonism that individuals can perform in the face of macro-social characteristics.
