Abstract

Considering the current moment in which urban planners strongly encourage the adoption of institutional measures to favor the occupation of the central region of the city of São Paulo, the present work tries to analyze the real noise conditions to which the populations who live there are subject. A sound evaluation will be made at strategic points in the central region of the city of São Paulo, considering quantitative and subjective aspects. Three study areas with different occupancy profiles, height of buildings, constructive density, number of empty spaces, width of the roads and capacity of vehicle flow, were selected. As a reference point for the measurements will be taken car traffic routes, considering that the main sources of local noise are the vehicles. In addition to the measurements, an evaluation of the profile and flow of the vehicles will be made, in order to understand how the coexistence of different uses determines the circulation of specific types of vehicles, and to serve as input data for simulation in computational model of noise urban environment in the chosen fractions of the city. The next steps will be the preparation of the noise map of the selected areas and the validation of it by comparison with the measurements made. For a later work, it is intended to propose actions that can be taken to solve the acoustic problem of the region, so that the data found can be of assistance for urban planning and city design. It is also intended to study and analyze the socioeconomic profile of people living in the region. This attitude is important because it leads to an understanding of who exactly is exposed and is affected by certain sound levels, and how the same sound level can generate different perceptions. This sensibility while approaching the subject makes people stop being just numbers and more human strategies are adopted. (AU)
