Abstract

This work analyses the acoustics of an urban parcel, considering many parameters of blocks design, such as: constructed area, volume, medium height of the block, buildings location form, sky view factor, relationship constructed area/non constructed areas, relationship of constructed/ vegetation area, relationship width/height of the streets, etc. In order to store and analyse the data a GIS (Geographical Information System) is applied. In this way, it is verified the possibility of a relationship between sound levels and urban configuration. The result to be achieved is a mapping of several geometrical urban parameters and of the sound levels of the study area, trying to create basis for urban acoustical planning.
