Abstract

This research project presented by the State University of Campinas (Limeira, SP, BR), in collaboration with the Federal University of Paraná (Curitiba, PR, BR) and University of Southern California (Los Angeles, CA, USA) aims at developing and disseminating A new integrated historical digital data inventory model. The research question to be addressed is: How can the Historical Building benefit from systems based on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), in order to leverage the process of its maintenance, conservation and restoration? The hypothesis that a new ICT-based inventory model to create a Comprehensive Digital Data Repository (RDA) for historic buildings can provide a better basis for the process of data management related to historical construction in order to Improve its performance, functionality and quality, will be tested and its potential fully exploited. The project has the potential to analyze existing tools for in situ spatial data capture; To develop tools and software to automate the recognition of objects in images and clouds of points generated by the capture process, as well as to process the fusion of images and clouds of points. Finally, promote automation to create a 3D representation of the building, semantically enriched, based on Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology. The activities of this research project are: (1) to propose a new structure using reverse engineering (through visual remote sensing technologies for precise detection of geometric characteristics) to generate 3D as-is models; (2) improve the recording of scanned data sets; (3) propose an optimization algorithm to integrate hybrid survey technologies; (4) automate object recognition to extract the characteristics of interest, using the captured data, in order to create the 3D BIM model. The project will promote the understanding of ICT applied to the conservation and restoration of historical buildings, promoting the optimization of the reverse engineering process to create semantically oriented 3D models of the current building conditions, which are the CDR base.
