Abstract

As described in the main project, the aim of this subproject is to investigate whether protein acetylation is involved in the control of reactive oxygen species in T. cruzi. Among 267 acetylated proteins, we found a large preference for proteins related to the oxidative stress response. More specifically, we intend to: 1) test whether acetylation regulates the activity of enzymes involved in the oxidative stress responses in T. cruzi; 2) test whether sirtuins have a role in this process; 3) understand how sirtuin expression and activity is regulated.
