Abstract The quality of clinical procedures performed in dental practice is closely linked to the properties of materials and technologies applied to oral rehabilitation. In the case of overdentures, defects in retention between prosthesis and implant can be enhanced by the use of hygienizing solutions. This leads to failure and reduced durability of treatment, loss of function, and decreased quality of life of patients. In view of the need to find biofilm control methods that preserve the structure of prostheses, the objective of this study is to evaluate the physical-chemical and mechanical properties of overdentures attachments submitted to immersion in denture cleansing solutions. Three materials will be used to make the attachments (Polyacetal, Teflon and Dacron), which will be immersed in three denture cleansing solutions (0.5% sodium hypochlorite, alkaline peroxide - Corega Tabs and Listerine Cool Mint) simulating a hygiene routine of 6 months. Afterwards, the properties of fatigue strength, surface hardness and roughness will be evaluated. After the proposed analyzes, the data obtained will be submitted to statistical treatment. (AU) | |
