Abstract

The aim of the study is compare the eating habits, meal times and changes in sleep-wake cycle and melatonin secretion between urban residents groups of Xapuri municipality and group of residents of the Chico Mendes Extractive Reserve. The study will be conducted in the city of Xapuri / Acre, with 102 workers: 51 residing in the urban part of the city and 51 tappers who live and work in the reserve, rural part. The calculation of sample size was estimated sample effect size of 0.50, significance level of 5% and a statistical power of 80%. Data collection is performed in one step, in which each participant will answer a structured questionnaire with demographic issues, lifestyle habits and morbidities. There will also be data collected food intake via food recall 24 hours, anthropometry, sleep-wake cycle (actigraphy and daily activities protocols) and biological variables (salivary melatonin, fasting glucose, fasting insulin, triglycerides, total cholesterol and fractions) . conventional descriptive statistics (with position and dispersion measures) will be held. To obtain the dietary standards, a factor analysis by principal component analysis will be carried out, having food groups previously defined as variables. Will be made Student t test for independent samples to compare data between the two groups (rubber tappers and residents of the urban area): average of the beginning and end times of sleep, full sleep duration, means the beginning of melatonin secretion hours , average total energy intake, carbohydrates, proteins and lipids. In all tests will be adopted the level of 5% statistical significance.
