Abstract

Adhesion Forces have studied in numerous fields. An expanding branch is surface modified materials. In this project, we intend to study the interaction between filter medium and nanomaterials. This study is important because it is necessary to have knowledge of the force magnitude between material and surface, to ensure that, when used, they will not be detached. In this work filters modified with silver (Ag), titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles and nanocomposites titanium dioxide/silver (Ag/TiO2) will be used. For the evaluation of the adhesion force between the particles and the filter the Atomic-Force microscopy (AFM) will be applied. One of the uses of this technique is the measurement of the interaction forces as a function of the distance between the needle and the surface. The result of this measurement is called force-distance curve. Thus, in this work quantitative adhesion force measurements between filter and nanoparticles will be obtained.
