Abstract

The objective of this study will be analyze the hearing of neonates born to mothers who used chemical substances (drugs, alcohol and tobacco) during pregnancy, through the procedures of hearing screening and audiological diagnosis. For this, we will evaluate neonates born at Centro de Atenção Integrado a Saúde da Mulher - CAISM, and remained for more than 48 hours in Intensive Care Unit and/or Intermediate Care Unit or joint housing, whose mothers made use of chemical substances during pregnancy, from November 2016 to May 2017. The neonates will be screened through the Auditory Brain-Stem Response, with a stimulus intensity of 35 dBHL, with the Accuscreen Otodynamics equipment, preferably before discharge. Neonates who fail in neonatal hearing screening will be referred for retest, and if they fail to retest, they will be referred for audiological diagnosis, performed at the Audiology Outpatient Clinic at CEPRE / Unicamp. Neonates who pass the hearing screening will be referred for ABR, in which the integrity of the auditory pathway to the brainstem will be evaluated. Equipment of the brand Interacoustics, model EP 25 will be used. Such evaluation will be performed with click stimuli, at the intensity of 80 dB NA. The data obtained in the exams will be recorded in the answer sheet. Subsequently the data recorded in the records will be manually reviewed to verify the consistency and clarity of the information and then will be typed, constituting a database. Descriptive tables will be constructed with the result of the applied tests and the independent variables. (AU)
