Abstract

Considering that the Legal Reserve (RL - in Portuguese) compensation mechanism via the market for Environmental Reserve Quotas (CRA - in Portuguese) should prevail due to the lower cost and the large number of areas that can be issued CRA, the location of these areas according to the SICAR-SP database and the prioritization for allocation of compensation according to ecological aspects (conservation of biodiversity, landscape connectivity, additionality of protection), hydrological (maintenance or increase in the quantity and quality of water in priority basins), social (identification of remnants in small rural properties with unprotected native vegetation) and economic are pressing demands to provide public managers with a consistent database for public consultation of the areas available for compensation of RL in the state of São Paulo.
