Abstract

Carbohydrates are involved in many biological functions such as signaling and cell invasion, glycoprotein structure and stability, and the onset of diseases such as cancer. Glycobiology, which is the science dedicated to study the structures and functions of carbohydrates in living organisms, has been engaged to investigate the interactions between glycans with different proteins such as lectins and enzymes. Glycoarray is the mail tool that glycobiologists use to investigate protein-glycan interaction in a high-throughput format. However, the methodologies available are costly, complex or limited accessibility. On the other hand, electrochemical techniques, especially electrochemical impedance spectroscopy using immittance functions, allow the development of rapid, miniaturized, multiplex yet sensitive, and easy handling label-free assays. In combination with this technique, the use of redox and/or glycan modified low-fouling peptides open new insight in obtaining a new technology in electrochemical glycoarray with low level of non-specific interaction. In this context, this project aims to develop a new approach to electrochemical glycoarray based on immittance functions using redox and/or glycan modified low-fouling peptides. (AU)
