Abstract

Project: Atlas of digital pathology. Objective: To create a digital atlas of pathological/radiological correlations in common systemic diseases using macroscopic, microscopic and radiological images. Study design: Based on data collected in the Brazilian Image and Autopsy Study (BIAS), we will retrospectively select all patients with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. For each case we will collect the basic clinical data with history and previous exams, as well as all post-mortem CTs, pictures and movies, and digital histological slides. All cases will be categorized according to the group of diseases - according to IDC-10 - chapters and subchapters. We will select at least one case per subchapter to include in an interactive digital atlas using not only the images but the specific radiological/pathological correlation. Activity Plan for Scientific Initiation: Digital atlas focused on lung/respiratory diseases. The main activities of the student will be to collect and to categorize the cases, prepare the digital images - specially pointing the aspects of correlation between pathology and radiology, and prepare a brief review of the literature of the selected cases. We plan to include at least 15 cases for this fellowship. These processes will be performed under supervision of both radiologists and pathologists experienced in post-mortem evaluation.
