Abstract The Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) will be the first mega science program of the US soil, with about one thousand of researchers participating. The Collaboration is planning to realize a World class experiment aimed to address some of the open questions in neutrino physics, namely the measurement of the CP violating phase in the leptonic sector, the hierarchy of neutrino masses and the ¸23. The DUNE foresees the realization of a neutrino beam and of a near detector, both located at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab), Illinois, and a far detector based on the technology of Liquid Argon Time Projection Chambers that will be installed at the Sanford Underground Research Facility in South Dakota, 1,300 km faraway. The ARAPUCA is an innovative device for liquid argon scintil- lation light detections, which aims to set a new status of the art in this field and to become the reference technology for the DUNE experiment. The Collaboration has approved the installation of some ARAPUCA arrays inside the protoDUNE, the prototype of the DUNE far detector, which will be built in 2017/2018 at CERN. Their performances will be benchmarked with other devices based on different technologies. I am proposing to spend 90 days at CERN for the installation, test and operation of the ARAPUCA inside protoDUNE and of the entire Photon Detection System of the protoDUNE experiment, since I have been appointed as responsible by the Collaboration.
