Abstract

Cholangiocarcinoma (CC), a neoplasia with origin in the bile ducts, is currently the second most common primitive liver tumor, whose incidence and mortality rates have increased dramatically in the last decades. In this case, the search for molecular and biochemical markers may contribute to the early diagnosis of the disease. Objective - To analyze the serum levels and genetic polymorphisms of natrium iodine symporter (NIS rs34705139), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF-A rs833061) and hypoxia inducing factor (HIF rs1154946), as well as the epidemiological, clinical and biochemical profile Of patients with CC. METHODS: 300 subjects were studied, divided into two groups: Group 1 (G1): 100 patients with CC and Group 2 (G2): 200 subjects with no alterations in liver function (control group). Genomic DNA will be extracted from leukocytes of the total peripheral blood by the salt precipitation method, subjected to polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and enzymatic restriction for genotyping of said polymorphisms. Serum levels of NIS, VEGF-A and HIF will be analyzed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The data will be analyzed statistically, according to the characteristics of the variables, assuming a level of significance for P-value <0.05. (AU)
