The increase in the prevalence of fungal infections worldwide and the rise in the occurrence of antifungal resistance suggest that new researches for the discovery of antifungal molecules are needed. The aim of this study is to contribute to the prospection of therapeutic alternatives, evaluating nanoencapsulates of ellagic acid (NAE) for the treatment of oral candidosis. In order to reach the general aim, the following specific objectives were determined: i) to complex the ellagic acid in cyclodextrin or derivates at effective concentration against C. albicans; ii) to chemically characterize the encapsulate; iii) to test the activity of the encapsulate using an invasive candidosis in vitro model; iv) to evaluate the activity of NAE on the integrity of cell wall and plasmatic membrane, quantity of ergosterol and morphogenesis (transition yeast-hyphae), searching for the mechanisms of action; v) to evaluate the activity of subinhibitory concentrations on the exoenzymes production, adherence to epithelial cells and expression of SAPs, HWP1 e ALS genes; vi) To evaluate the cyto and genotoxicity of NAE in the effective treatment conditions; and vii) To evaluate the effectiveness in vivo for the treatment of oral candidosis in murine model. The obtained data will be statistically analyzed. The level of significance will be set at 5%. (AU)
