Abstract

This project is a follow-up of the IC project "Scientific research in universities in emerging economies" developed during 2016 under the support of Fapesp, where it was developed, for emerging economies, including Brazil, an analysis of recent developments of universities for which scientific research is a central part of their activities, including the description of their relevant characteristics. Part II has as objectives: a) To analyze the development of scientific research by knowledge area, for the universities already studied in Part I, using the same indicators, like number of publications, impact indices (citations) and degree of internationalization. b) The go further in the analysis of the Brazilian system, using data about the programs that grant doctorate degrees, by knowledge area (CAPES), comparing the publications indicators with the CAPES evaluation system and results (Capes score, scale 1 to 7).
