Abstract

This project is linked to the Education History and Religion Study Group of Piracicaba and intends to build a new understanding at a set of works from the 17th century, based on elements found in our previous researches. This project analyses the elements of Hermetic Tradition and the Rosicrucian Enlightment presents in the work of the educator Jan Amos Comenius on relation with its conceptions of knowledge and education. In addition to what has already been established by some authors in the last decades, it is intended to broaden the understanding of the relationship between knowledge, education and the hermetic tradition, with its Rosicrucian trend, analyzing five books of the Czech educator, i.e., The labyrinth of World and the Paradise of the heart, The Great Didactics, Orbis Sensualium Pictus, Pampaedia, Unum Necessarium. The supporting bibliography used for the understanding of the hermetic history is mainly the work of Frances Yates. The methodological approach for historical work is guided by the writings of Carlo Ginzburg. As a final result, it is expected a detailed mapping of concepts, ideas and arguments that can be associated to Renaissance / Modern hermeticism in the five works cited above. (AU)
