Abstract

Piezoelectric materials have been highly difused in the past few years due to their properties; which can be used in many areas. Therefore is needed the development of piezoelectrics ceramics lead-free in order to replace Pb(ZrTi)O3 - PZT ceramics. This project seeks to develop ceramics with piezoelectric properties of the (K0,44Na0,52Li0,04)(Nb0,86Ta0,10Sb0,04)O3 system, KNL-NTS abbreviated, obtained by solid state reaction and analysis of the effect of NaNbO3 seeds addition in to (micro)structural and piezoelectrics properties. The synthesis of the seeds will be done throw the microwave assisted hydrothermal method, this way we can guarantee a controlled morphology. Thus it will be analysed the KNL-NTS pure system and the one with the addition of NaNbO3 seeds in three different percentage rates (1, 2 and 5% in weight). The seeds will be added to the KNL-NTS system after the calcinations process. After it, the calcined powder with and without seeds will be compressed and sintered at proper temperature (dilatometry technique) to ensure the densification of the material. The characterization of the samples will be done throw X-ray diffractometry (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), mercury porosimetry and dielectric and piezoelectric properties. Thus, the (micro)structural difference between the samples of the pure KNL-NTS system and addition of sodium niobate seeds, and their influence on dielectric and piezoelectric properties, will be understood.
