In this research it is proposed the evaluation of the influence of the use of different interpolation methods in the definition and localization of building roof boundaries in MDSs obtained from SVLA data. These steps are described in parallel for the processes based on the regular MDS, obtained by using an interpolation method, and on the triangulated MDS, with both digital models representing the same region. Initially the regular and triangulated MDSs are subjected to a filtering algorithm to separate the terrain and non-terrain points. The set of non-terrain points is now submitted to a classification process, allowing the labeling of points in various classes, such as buildings. The estimation of quality indices (completeness, correction and Root Mean Square Error - RMSE) is the last step of the proposed procedure. These quality indexes are the basis for evaluating the influence of different interpolation methods on the definition and localization of building roof boundaries. In this procedure, polylines that delineate detected roofs of buildings should be extracted from the regular and triangulated MDSs. For the estimation of the quality indexes mentioned above, the polylines extracted from the regular and triangulated MDSs are numerically compared with the corresponding reference polylines, extracted manually from a georeferenced orthophoto.
