Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the effects of the online program "Independent Living" implemented with families of young people and adults with Intellectual Disabilities. Approximately sixty young people and adults with intellectual disabilities and their families. The program will be offered in a Distance Education modality - EaD, intending to reach all families interested in the national scope. To carry out the program, participants will be divided into four groups, one pilot and three experimental. The "Independent Living" Program will have theoretical activities that will deal with themes such as: conceptualization of intellectual disability; Natural functional curriculum; Teaching procedures, etc., and practical activities in which the family members will evaluate, elaborate and implement the teaching of a functional activity involving an adaptive behavior for the youth / adults with intellectual disability. To collect the data it will be used seven instruments: initial questionnaire, Support Insensitivity Scale - SIS; Personal Outcomes Scale - POS; Learning Logging Protocol; Protocol for the Evaluation of Skills Taught to Youth / Adults with Intellectual Disabilities; Follow-up questionnaire and Social Validity Questionnaire. The data will be analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The multiple probe single subject design crossing subjects and behaviors will be used to verify the effectiveness of the program. The results are expected to demonstrate the effectiveness of online programs for family members in order to contribute to the area of special education as well as for future applications with other participants of this or other programs in a distance modality.
