Abstract

The Individualized Education Program (IEP) can contribute to the quality of inclusive education, since it aims to ensure the follow-up of students' progress throughout their schooling process, considering the repertoire of skills, knowledge and development, chronological age and school level already achieved, recognizing and working with the differences. In Brazil, professionals find it difficult to plan and implement the IEP. The purpose of this research, to be developed during the research internship abroad, is to systematically analyze the process of developing an IEP for the student with intellectual disability accompanied by the Support Unit for the Inclusive School (UAEI) and who attends regular school in the city of Porto, Portugal. With the specific objectives of (a) to carrying out evaluations in a multidisciplinary team on a substance with special needs; (b) elaborating (or electing) and implementing one of the proposed interventions for participation in specifications of at least one student with intellectual disability in the process of teaching reading and writing; and (c) assessing the effectiveness of teaching in acquiring the target skills. It is planned an evaluation of different issues with the intellectual disability which are monitored by the UAEI (Support Unit to the Inclusive School) in collaboration with inED (Center for Research and Innovation in Education) of the School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto. Reviously scheduled dates will be established with the professional unit and the family to set the educational goals and to develop an IEP. The planning should include the student's needs, favoring their potential and creating conditions for the development of the skills in lag. The preparation and implementation of an individualized education program will be held with at least one student who is in the literacy process, being worked on academic reading and writing skills and/or related skills considered prerequisites. The data acquisition will be carried out in a regular school where the participating student is currently registered. The individualized teaching program will be monitored and individual performance will be analyzed. The percentages of correct responses and, also, the type of error will be analyzed, seeking to identify the eventual occurrence of control. (AU)
