Abstract

This study aims to elucidate the effect of the type of diluent used in the preparation of slurries in the in vitro erosion cycles on the effectiveness of toothpastes with different active ingredients. Bovine enamel specimens (4x4mm) were randomized into 15 groups (n = 12). This cycle simulated the erosion process in the oral cavity, intercalating the demineralization with citric acid and the remineralization with the slurry of the toothpaste (ratio of 1 toothpaste to 3 of diluent). At the beginning of each cycle day, the formation of an acquired film will be performed, immersing the blocks in human saliva for 1 hour, at room temperature, under agitation (100 rpm). For remineralization, at the beginning and end of each day of erosive cycle, the specimens will be brushed for 15 seconds (load 200 g) and kept in the slurry of the toothpaste for 2 minutes s been reached. The dentifrices will be chosen based on the active principle: placebo (without fluoride); MFP (1450 ppm F); NaF (NaF 1450 ppm F); SnF2 (SnF2 1100 ppm F and NaF 350 ppm F); F / Sn / Chitosan (AmF 700 ppm F and NaF 700 ppm F, Chitosan 0.5%, SnCl2 3500 ppm Sn 2+). Each toothpaste slurry will be made with one type of diluent according to the group: distilled water, human saliva or artificial saliva. Erosion will be performed 4 times daily in 1% citric acid solution, pH 3.5, for 1 minute under agitation (100 rpm). Surface profile analysis will be performed after the erosion cycle, thus making it possible to elucidate the loss of dental tissue. The data will be submitted to the one-way test (ANOVA) and Tukey (± = 0.05). (AU)
