Abstract

Water supply systems aim to supply water in appropriate quantity and quality to the population in order to meet their requirements. In these systems, the catchment and the transportation of water are done by means of hydraulic pumps. As the price of electric energy is differentiated during the hours of the day, having a higher value in the peak period, it is necessary to plan the operation of the hydraulic pumps, in order to avoid their operations at the peak period. In this research project, a mixed integer optimization mathematical model for the problem of planning the operation of hydraulic pumps in supply systems is proposed. Numerical tests will be performed with the proposed mathematical model using data from the supply system of the city of São Carlos. The solutions obtained by the mathematical model will be analyzed using EPANET software. (AU)
