Abstract

As a general purpose, this research project intends to verify the validity and reliability of a new protocol for assessing physical performance of soccer players in a small-sided game situation. Fifty young soccer players will be invited to participate in the project (U-11 [n = 10], U-13 [n = 10], U-15 [n = 10] U-20 [n = 10]). The experimental protocol will be separated into four stages: I) to compare the physical performance during the proposed protocol (goalkeeper + 5 vs. 5 + Goalkeeper) between the different age group (n = 50, U-11 X U-13 X U-17 X U-20); II) to relate physical performance obtained in the proposed protocol (goalkeeper + 5 vs. 5 + goalkeeper) and physical performance during competitive matches (n = 30, goalkeeper + 10 vs. goalkeeper), in order to verify the ecological validity of the proposed protocol and; III) to evaluate the reliability of the physical performance obtained in the proposed protocol (n = 30). Such protocol will consist of a game in the configuration of Goalkeeper + 5 vs. 5 + Goalkeeper, totaling 10 players (with the exception of goalkeepers, who will not be subject to analysis in this project) during 43 minutes and 30 seconds (six series of six minutes with 90 seconds of active recovery between series [6 X 6' x 90'')),the field size (49 x 25 m [length x width]) will respect a density of 4 130 m2 for each player (i.e. players of all functions and positions with Exception of the goalkeeper), which represents a density of 4 50% lower than the competitive match, where the dimensions of the field comply to the guidelines of the FIFA - Fédération Internationale de Football Association - (105 x 68 m [length x width]). For statistical analysis, SPSS software version 22.0 will be used. (AU)
