Abstract

The Project The neological typology: an open-ended question is a proposal to be developed during the research internship we intend to follow, from January, 10th to December, 20th, at the University Paris 13, Villetaneuse, France, under the supervision of PhD. Jean-François Sablayrolles. This project results from our activities and studies on neology, which have been rendering inumerous papers and, simultaneously, doubts regarding the classification of the collected neological lexical units, among other questions. We intend to discuss with Professor Sablayrolles the questions that these studies have raised, as well as interact with his research group (EmpNeo - Emprunt Neoveille), composed by speakers from different languages of Eastern Europe and dedicated towards the study of linguistic borrowings and its categorizations. The internship will also guarantee the opportunity to take part in the activities of the Neoveille Project, of which we are a member. This project is concerned with the automatic extraction of journalistic neologisms from seven languages, among which the Brazilian Portuguese language, and the analysis of these neologisms, through a more fine-grained categorization which can deal with the different types and subtypes of the contemporarily used neologisms.
