Abstract

The research projected here intends to analyze the manners of being historian as from the formatting of graduate in Brazil. To do so, we will interpret the intellectual itineraries of the historians Cecília Maria Westphalen, Maria Beatriz Nizza da Silva and Adeline Daumard, between 1970 and 1990 - decades of outlining the tasks which would compose the métier post-receiving the degree and the bibliographic extending. These historians, who forged intellectual solidarity networks with each other, were exponents of generation of professors who fueled the professional market with the first people having graduate degree in history. Taking their itineraries as research object will allow us to inquire how these historians, from their manners of conceive the craft, acted in the reconfiguration of the social space of Brazilian historiographical knowledge production and why they started to make pessimistic diagnoses about the state of the art of this production since 1980's, the period if historiographical inflections. How did they confer fundamentals to these evaluations? Would it be possible to envision a conflict of generations? To assess these questions we mobilize the intellectual production of the authors (published books, manuscripts, academic memorials, collective projects, reports), the correspondence network, Annals and Magazines of Brazilian Historical Research Society, minutes of departmental meetings and institutional reports. The pragmatic reflection about the history of Gérard Noiriel and the problematic of social place of historian in Michel de Certeau guide the look to the subjects and the formulation of the analysis proceedings to the development of this research.
