Abstract

With the increase in extractive activities and the consumption of processed products, higher amounts of effluents containing organic contaminants are being generated. Among the various contaminants (pesticides, drugs, endocrine disrupters), dyes are notable for their great application, especially in the textile industry. In this project, we intend to study, among the various existing dyes, the degradation and mineralization of the reactive blue 4 dye, which is toxic, carcinogenic and allergenic. Faced with this environmental concern, researchers have been increasingly dedicated to the development of new technologies capable of producing more effective oxidants, processes involving low cost and using less chemicals to promote treatment of effluents contaminated by toxic organic compounds. Among the various processes used in the treatment of contaminated water (anodic oxidation, photodegradation, adsorption), the electrochemical advanced oxidation processes (EAOP) that will be applied in this project is the electro-Fenton (EF) method in absence and presence of UV light using as anode, dimensionally stable electrode composition Ti / Ru0.3Ti0.7O2 and the air diffusion electrode as cathode. The evaluation of the oxidative capacity of this process in order to degrade and / or mineralize the reactive blue dye 4 will be performed through the following analytical techniques: molecular absorption spectroscopy in the UV-Vis region, high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and Total organic carbon (TOC).
