Abstract

Our general objectives concentrate on an analysis of the first two steps of a pre-equilibrium reaction and on the extension of the quantumformalism to include up to two particles in the continuum after the first interaction and up to three after the second interaction, the maximum number of continuum particles physically permitted. The studies to be performed at the Nuclear Data Section (NDS) of the IAEA will concentrate on lower energy reactions in which one-nucleonemission dominates both the one and two-step reactions. This is the energy region that is described by most existing models and the energyregion in which details of the nuclear structure are most important. Calculations including more detailed models (RPA) of nuclear excitationare planned for the stay at the NDS in order to perform comparisons with standard models at both low and high excitation energies. It is also in the region of low excitation energy that direct and semi-direct photon emission are most important. One of the goals of the project is to include these in the calculations during the visit to the NDS.
