Abstract

This research is dedicated to an analitical and interpretative study about Carlos Barjas Millan work, focused on the Antônio D'Elboux house (1962, located in Rua Ministro Godói, in Perdizes neighborhood, São Paulo, capital. For that, a study of bibliography references about Millan's work and original drawings which are stored in FAUUSP library, also visits while interviews with the inhabitants will be realized and photographies will be taken. The project was thought to a public employee, that reminds of the usual popular housing realized by the private initiative in the 30's, similar to the typical Paulita geminated houses, that's why is an economical and accessible to the middle class. But it's highlight is the adoption of a rectangular floor plan reorganized in an modern spacial configuration, that unites tradition with innovation. Another important aspect is the relation between the architecture and the land declivity, what generates a vertical condition with different levels and an unique vertical condition with many levels and a singular interaction with the street, the land and the surroundings. These characteristics constitute in a synthetic, complex and of great plastic quality spacial organization, what stands out it in the São Paulo's modern architecture scenario in the 1960's. As part of the comprehension, analysis of the constructive and spatial solutions process of this house will be made up a complete set of architectural drawings - section, floor plans and elevations - normalized in 1:50 scale, what will be developed in AutoCAD. Also as a part of the necessary interpretation one three dimensional models will be built in 1:25 scale in wood that will be cutted in laser cutters from the drawings made in AutoCAD. Considering the historical relevance of this house, this study material will be adapted as pedagogical material that supports the subject Architectural Drawing, a mandatory class for all first year student of Architecture and Urbanism program of FAUUSP (AU)
