Abstract

The Psychological evaluation is defined by the Federal Council of Psychology (CFP) as a technical and scientific process carried out with people or groups of people who, according to each area of knowledge, require specific methodologies. The psychological evaluation aims to collect and investigate information on psychological phenomena that can subsidize the work in the different fields of action of the psychologist. It is a private practice of the psychologist and the main demand of Laws operators to the juridical psychologist, who, according to the CFP, is a professional who works in the field of justice, collaborates in the planning and execution of citizenship policies and violence prevention. Psychological evaluation covers the legal area since the nineteenth century, when psychological knowledge was integrated in the process of judging crimes, serving to aid the interrogation system and delusional facts. When used in a legal context, the psychological evaluation is called forensic evaluation or forensic psychological expertise, which differs from other types of psychological evaluation because their purpose is to be subsidized by judicial decisions. The present study aims to present the psychologist's work in the institutions of justice that cover the different branches of Law. To contribute to the discussion of the limits and possibilities of the psychologist's work with the judicial institutions, to explain how the juridical psychologist works and how they understand the practices of Juridical Psychology, emphasizing the process of psychological evaluation. For this, a quantitative-qualitative research will be carried out, in person, in a questionnaire format with professionals who act as juridical psychologists in the capital and another city in the interior of the state of São Paulo.
