Abstract

Recent studies verified the presence of disorders related to static postural balance and agility in patients with migraine, suggesting an altered dependence on the sensory systems to control the balance. However, neither the strategies nor the contribution of the visual, vestibular and proprioceptive systems on the balance of these individuals are still known. Thus, the objective of this project is to evaluate, throught the Computerized Dynamic Posturography (Equitest-Neurocom), the contribution of the visual component to the balance of patients with migraine with aura, without aura and controls. The volunteers will be screened from the Ambulatory of Headache and Craniofacial Pain of the HCFMRP. They will be invited to perform the Sensory Organization Test, in which the static balance is assessed in situations of stable and unstable support surface and mobile and fixed visual field. It is expected this project elucidate the etiology of the reduction of postural control of patients with migraine, with the aim of the incorporation of rehabilitation strategies in a directed and effective way.
