Abstract

Recent studies have found the presence of disturbances related to static postural balance and agility in patients with migraine with and without aura, suggesting a dependency and altered sensory systems that control balance. However, the dynamic and functional changes are not known, nor the influence of chronicity on these parameters. Therefore the objective of this work is to identify the dynamic and functional changes in patients with chronic migraine, migraine with aura and without aura. We will evaluate 30 individuals in each group screened of the outpatient headache clinic through equipment NeuroCom Balance Master ®. Patients will be submitted to four tests by a blind evaluator: 1) evaluation of static equilibrium in a stable and unstable surface with opened and closed eyes, 2) stability limits, 3) gait analysis, 3) transposing an obstacle. It is expected that this design data elucidating the functional impairment of these patients in order that further evaluation and rehabilitation strategies could be incorporated to treatment. (AU)
